On September 25, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital platform. Opening the meeting, the head of state noted that, as per established tradition, noble initiatives are regularly carried out in the country, including the pardon of citizens convicted of crimes but who regret their actions and sincerely repent.
In this regard, the head of state gave the floor to Secretary of the State Security Council and Chairman of the Commission for the Preparation of Proposals on Citizenship and Pardon under the President of Turkmenistan, Begench Gundogdyev, who reported on the results of the Commission’s work on pardoning convicts in honor of the 34th anniversary of the country’s independence.
After hearing the report, the head of state, following this noble tradition, signed a Decree pardoning 225 convicted citizens of the country on the occasion of Independence Day.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Secretary of the State Security Council and Minister of Defense, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, to carry out the necessary work to release the pardoned individuals from detention facilities and ensure their return to their families in the near future.
The head of state wished the pardoned citizens to work diligently, serve the Motherland sincerely, and live enjoying the fruits of their labor.
