Turkmen sambo wrestlers won six medals – 2 silver and 4 bronze – on the first day of the Asian and Oceanian Championship that started in Tashkent, the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden age” reports.

 

The prestigious continental competition brought together more than 600 athletes from 23 countries in the region.

 

Muhammetmyrat Babekov in sports sambo (weight category up to 58 kg) and Bezirgen Begenjov in combat sambo (up to 98 kg) won silver medals for the Turkmen team.

 

Bronze medals for the Turkmen team were brought in by the representative of men's sports sambo Sapar Dovletov (up to 64 kg) and the women's part of the team: Aziza Nazarova (up to 50 kg), Zuleyha Hudayberdiyeva (up to 54 kg) and Merjen Jorayeva (up to 59 kg).
