Sayed Hashemi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, speaking at the Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF 2025), voiced a number of constructive proposals, including connecting the Turkmenbashi International Seaport with routes in the neighboring country and beyond. This was reported by a Takyk correspondent.
The Afghan delegate noted that Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, countries in the region linked by historical and cultural ties, always strive for mutually beneficial cooperation.
"This conference is a valuable opportunity for us to discuss the region's enormous economic potential and strengthen prospects for joint cooperation. Afghanistan, thanks to its strategically advantageous geographic location, is considered a crossroads between Central Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. We can become a link in trade, transit, and energy in the region. "Afghanistan's private sector is interested in closer cooperation with our Turkmen brothers in various fields," Hashemi said.
In this context, the following areas were mentioned:
Expanding cooperation in the energy and oil and gas sectors;
Sharing transit and port facilities, especially to connect the port of Turkmenbashi with routes within Afghanistan and beyond;
Investing in construction, agriculture, and the food industry;
Creating customs and trading platforms to increase bilateral and regional trade.
Hashemi expressed confidence that trade and investment will not only contribute to the countries' economic growth but also strengthen regional peace and stability.
In conclusion, the Chairman of the Chamber congratulated Turkmenistan on the 34th anniversary of its independence and the successful holding of the Turkmenistan Investment Forum.
"I would like to express my gratitude to the friendly people of Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and emphasize that Afghanistan is firmly committed to sincere and constructive cooperation in all areas of the economy and trade," Hashemi concluded
