On August 4, the Avaza National Tourist Zone hosted the Parliamentary Forum, which was held within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC). The key outcome of this event was the adoption of the Avaza Action Plan, a new ten-year plan designed to transform the geographical challenges of these countries into a driving force for sustainable development.

Contribution of Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan, being a neutral and peace-loving state, played a decisive role in the development and promotion of this initiative. The country's proposals, put forward under the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, have already led to the adoption of a number of important resolutions by the UN. These documents strengthened the legal basis for international cooperation in the areas of peace, security, energy and the creation of transport corridors.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the leadership of Turkmenistan, the country actively promotes strengthening international partnership to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Turkmenistan has ratified and acceded to many key international documents related to transit trade and transport infrastructure, which has allowed it to make a significant contribution to the activities of the world community in this area.

The Avaza Action Plan and the role of parliamentarians

The Avaza Action Plan is a milestone, offering a concrete plan to address the challenges of LLDCs. It calls on the parliaments of these countries to be actively involved in its implementation. Legislatures have the power to pass laws, oversee their implementation, and make budgetary decisions, making them key links between governments, civil society, and international partners.

Parliamentarians must:

Ensure transparency and accountability in program implementation.

To form a legislative basis for the modernization of transport infrastructure.

Attract investment and innovation for sustainable growth.

Strengthen multilateral cooperation, including with the UN and civil society.

Thus, the Avaza Action Plan opens up new prospects for expanding cooperation and introducing innovative financial mechanisms. The forum in Avaza confirmed that parliamentarians should take the lead in promoting these ideas, ensuring political transparency.

The Forum participants highly appreciated the organization of the event and expressed confidence that its results, including the Avaza Action Plan, will help strengthen the role of parliamentary institutions in the international arena and their contribution to sustainable development.
