On October 1, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the older generation and the people of the country on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons.

"To respect and honor elders, to uphold their dignity, to consult the older generation in carrying out large-scale endeavors, and to heed their advice — these noble principles of the Turkmen people have been passed down to us as a legacy. Guided by these ancestral traditions, which are successfully continued in our independent Motherland confidently moving forward alongside the international community along the path of peace, creativity, and progress, the International Day of Older Persons is celebrated with great enthusiasm. As a sign of deep respect for our elders, who, with their valuable advice and guidance, wise teachings and instructions, make a significant contribution to strengthening national unity, social cohesion, and the upbringing of our happy youth — the support of our country — in a spirit of high patriotism and humanism, song and music festivities as well as rich cultural and public events are held in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, as well as across the country. By highlighting the significance of the International Day of Older Persons, we promote the national principles that form the foundation of our unity, success, and prosperity to the world, and strive for new achievements and high milestones for the sake of a great future," the head of state noted.

"In the era of the Revival of a new epoch of a powerful state, a special role is assigned to the older generation in strengthening our unity and educating youth with a strong sense of patriotism. Your wise advice, guidance, and mentorship serve as a kind of school for raising our sons and daughters — true patriots who sincerely love the independent and neutral Homeland, possess high moral qualities, and are committed to our humane principles, noble traditions, and customs," President Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished his compatriots good health, longevity, and a prosperous and happy life.
