On August 5, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya Mohammed Yunus Menfi. The guest arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
Having warmly welcomed the distinguished guest to the Turkmen land, the head of state expressed gratitude for his acceptance of the invitation to participate in the Third UN Conference on LLDCs, which is held under the motto "Promoting Progress through Partnerships".
Mohammed Yunus Menfi expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss priority areas of interstate dialogue during a personal meeting. He noted that his country highly appreciates cooperation with neutral Turkmenistan, which puts forward initiatives aimed at strengthening global peace and trust.
The leader of the friendly country also expressed confidence that this Conference will be important for creating favorable conditions for transit transportation, providing the necessary opportunities for countries that do not have direct access to sea terminals, and establishing an effective partnership for the sake of a bright future for the peoples living in these states.
The parties noted the great potential for developing bilateral relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Having emphasized that within the framework of trade and economic cooperation there are new opportunities for expanding interaction in the oil and gas sector, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that a systematic dialogue will be useful for finding and implementing new forms and mechanisms of partnership in this industry.
At the end of the meeting, the heads of state, having confirmed the commitment of the two countries to the progressive development of friendly relations, wished each other good health and success in responsible state activities.
