On September 19, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov delivered a speech at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, held on the eve of the country’s Independence Day.

"Today, we are holding a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, at which we will define the tasks for the further development of our independent state. In order to successfully implement these tasks, important documents will be adopted.

We attach special importance to the program-based development of the economy. Based on new technologies and innovations, we are achieving significant success in building a modern economy.

By consistently improving the social and living standards of the population and ensuring sustainable development, we have significantly strengthened the foundation of our economy.

Since the beginning of this year, GDP growth has remained stable at 6.3 percent, which demonstrates the successful implementation of the reforms taking place in the country.

According to the ‘Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan and Investments for 2025,’ by the end of this year, 40 billion 72 million manats in capital investments will be utilized for the prosperity of the Homeland. This will make it possible to construct and modernize new facilities for production and socio-cultural purposes.

The construction of new settlements and villages, as well as modern housing, continues actively across the country. The volume of preferential and consumer loans provided to the population, especially young families for purchasing housing, is steadily increasing," the head of state emphasized.

The President also noted that extensive work is underway in the country in the extraction, processing, and export of hydrocarbon resources. This year, particular attention will be given to the development of the oil and gas sector, the construction of new specialized complexes for processing oil and natural gas, and the improvement of geological exploration efforts.

"One of the leading sectors of the economy is also the trade complex. Goods bearing the 'Made in Turkmenistan' label are in high demand on the global market.

The volume of exported products is steadily increasing, and the geography of export markets is expanding. Special importance in enhancing international partnerships in this area is given to exhibitions and conferences being held.

Effective work is being carried out in the transport and communications sector. Relevant activities are underway to develop passenger and freight transportation by all modes of transport and to fully utilize international transport and transit potential. In this regard, our country is cooperating with the United Nations and other major international organizations," the president stated.

"The information presented at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan regarding our achievements, as well as the new goals, present us with major tasks for the upcoming year — tasks that, I am firmly convinced, we will be able to accomplish with honor through dedicated work together with our people.

Our main goal is to enhance the prestige of our independent, permanently neutral Homeland – Turkmenistan – and our native people.

In this regard, we must direct all our efforts toward ensuring the continued prosperity of our independent, permanently neutral Motherland and improving the living standards of our courageous people," the head of state concluded.
