The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, in its order dated December 9, 2024, introduced amendments to the rules for the recognition of foreign diplomas in higher and secondary professional education. These changes concern two main categories:
- Law specialties: Graduates of foreign universities in law-related fields are now required to undergo a three-month paid training in Turkmenistan before their diplomas are recognized. The curriculum for this course will be developed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan.
- Distance learning: Students who continued their education remotely at foreign universities for specific reasons will be required to undergo a check on their proficiency in electronic and distance learning technologies.
A special State Examination Commission will be created for the law exams, which will include representatives from various government bodies and universities.
These changes are aimed at improving the quality of legal education in Turkmenistan and ensuring that graduates' knowledge meets the requirements of national legislation.
