The “Turkmendenizderyayollary” Agency has announced a tender for the design, supply, and construction management of two Ro-Ro rail ferry vessels and one dry cargo ship. This initiative is part of the shipbuilding financing agreements signed between the Government of Turkmenistan, the Islamic Development Bank, and the OPEC Fund.
The vessels will be constructed at the “Balkan” Shipbuilding and Repair Plant. The project aims to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the national maritime fleet and to develop the country’s shipbuilding capabilities. It will also support the sustainable development of maritime transport and increase the sector’s contribution to the economy and the national development strategy aimed at diversifying economic activities.
Moreover, the shipbuilding process at the Balkan plant will create new jobs.
