Turkmen Ambassador Gives Lecture to Young Diplomats in South Korea

On July 23, 2025, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Begenc Durdyev, delivered a lecture to participants of the 2025 Summer Camp of the Young Ambassadors’ Diplomatic Academy in Suwon. The event was organized to introduce Korean youth to the politics, traditions, and values of Turkmenistan.

 

The diplomat spoke about the country's foreign policy, which is based on the principles of neutrality, peace, and good neighborliness. Special emphasis was placed on Turkmenistan's activities in connection with the proclamation of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and the 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality.

 

The Ambassador presented large-scale development programs and initiatives under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. He highlighted the importance of key milestones such as the 30th anniversary of neutrality, the 80th anniversary of the UN, and the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Korea.

 

Begenc Durdyev also emphasized Turkmenistan's tourism potential, speaking about UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Ancient Merv, Kunya-Urgench, and Nisa, the Avaza tourist zone on the Caspian Sea, the new smart city of Arkadag, and direct flights between Ashgabat and Seoul.

 

The diplomat also informed the students about Turkmenistan’s youth policy and invited them to participate in international school olympiads that will be held in the country in 2025. The academy participants prepared presentations on the topic “Turkmenistan – a Friendly Country to the Republic of Korea” and asked questions regarding the country’s foreign policy.
