Starting January 11, 2025, an agreement between Belarus and Russia on mutual recognition of visas will come into effect. According to the document, citizens of Turkmenistan who obtain a visa from one of these countries will be able to enter, exit, stay, and transit through the territories of both states for the entire validity period of the visa, BELTA reports.
In practice, this means that a Turkmen citizen holding a Belarusian visa will also be able to visit Russia without obtaining additional permits. Similarly, with a Russian visa, entry to Belarus will also be permitted.
The border between the countries can be crossed via international checkpoints, six specially designated road routes, as well as railway and air connections.
At the same time, each country reserves the right to deny entry, shorten the stay of foreign citizens on its territory, and monitor their compliance with residency regulations.
