Turkmen Weightlifters Win Six Medals at Asian Championship in Astana

The Turkmenistan national weightlifting team is performing successfully at the Asian Championship for juniors and youth, taking place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. According to the Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF), Turkmen athletes have already won six medals: one silver and five bronze.

The most outstanding performance came from Kakamyrat Annamuradov in the 71 kg weight category. He lifted 128 kg in the snatch, earning a small bronze medal, and achieved 160 kg in the clean and jerk, which brought him another small bronze. With a total of 288 kg, the Turkmen weightlifter won the silver medal in the combined total.

In the 53 kg weight category among girls, Ogulshat Amanova distinguished herself. She lifted 78 kg in the snatch and 96 kg in the clean and jerk, securing two small bronze medals. With a total result of 174 kg, Amanova added a major bronze medal to Turkmenistan’s tally.

The competition in Astana is ongoing, and the Turkmen weightlifters have a chance to increase the team’s medal count.

The Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship has gathered athletes from 25 countries, including China, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, and others.
