Turkmen Wrestlers Win Two Bronze Medals at the Asian Cadet Championship

Two athletes from Turkmenistan won bronze medals at the Asian Wrestling Championship among cadets under 15 years old, held in Bishkek, online newspaper "Golden age" reports.

The medalists were Meret Durdyyev, a 9th-grade student of Ashgabat Secondary School No. 9, and Jeyhun Hakberdiyev, a 9th-grade student of the capital's sports school "Olimp".

Meret Durdyyev took bronze in the freestyle wrestling competition in the up-to-44 kg weight category. In the quarterfinals, he confidently defeated Jiwon Pak from the Republic of Korea with a score of 10:0. However, in the semifinals, he lost to the future champion Aaryan Aaryan from India with a score of 0:10. In the decisive bronze medal bout, the Turkmen wrestler defeated Hun Bom Ri from the DPRK and reached the podium.

Jeyhun Hakberdiyev achieved success in Greco-Roman wrestling in the up-to-52 kg category. After losing in the quarterfinals to Samga Ermek from Kazakhstan with a score of 0:10, he managed to redeem himself in the bronze medal match by defeating Shivanan Yadav from India and claiming the bronze.
