A delegation from Turkmenistan led by Minister of Railway Transport Mammed Akmammedov paid a working visit to Iran from September 6 to 8, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to expand bilateral cooperation in the railway sector.
During the trip, the Turkmen delegation met with high-ranking Iranian officials: Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh and his deputy Jabar-Ali Zakeri. They also visited the wagon control center and studied the capabilities of the Aprin dry port in Tehran.
During the meetings, the parties discussed how to intensify trade and economic ties and increase the volume of transit cargo transportation. Particular attention was paid to key international routes - the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran Railway, the International Corridor of the "Ashgabat Agreement" (Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Oman).
Following the talks, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in order to increase trade turnover between the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). The issue of the effective use of the Armenia-Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan transport corridor was separately discussed.
In addition, the delegations visited the Akyayla-Incheburun border railway crossing, where they got acquainted with the progress of the work.
