A delegation from Turkmenistan, headed by the Rector of Oguzhan Engineering and Technology University, Gurbanmyrat Mezilov, paid a visit to Tokyo on October 3–4.
The Turkmen delegation met with Mr. D. Ueda, Director of the Higher Education and Social Security Group of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The parties discussed the expansion of cooperation in the fields of science and education, the continuation of educational programs and professional training projects developed by JICA for the faculty and students of Turkmen higher education institutions. They also noted the expansion of academic exchange programs within the framework of technical cooperation with the agency.
On the same day in Tokyo, Rector Mezilov met with Mr. K. Nagai, Deputy Director of the Innovation Center for Nanomedicine at the Kawasaki Institute of Industrial Promotion. The parties exchanged views on current trends in the development of nanomedicine, its role in the humanitarian sphere, and discussed the outcomes of leading scientific research being conducted in Japan in this field.
The Turkmen delegation emphasized the importance of introducing advanced nanotechnologies into the science and education sectors of Turkmenistan, as well as the training of young scientists in this area.
In this regard, a proposal was made to organize industrial internships for Turkmen students specializing in nanotechnology at the mentioned center and to develop joint scientific research projects.
