On July 23, members of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held a video conference to discuss the prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
The sides exchanged views on the current state and future possibilities of inter-parliamentary dialogue. Participants noted that, thanks to the efforts of the heads of state, friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have been strengthening in recent years, which contributes to the establishment of multifaceted cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The deputies emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue as an integral part of deepening cooperation between the two states. Particular attention was paid to the establishment of bilateral inter-parliamentary friendship groups, which expand opportunities for the exchange of legislative experience and the development of parliamentary diplomacy.
Participants acknowledged the significance of expanding cooperation within international organizations, exchanging legislative experience, and organizing joint events. The sides expressed their readiness to support interstate cooperation through parliamentary diplomacy and to strengthen the legal foundations of bilateral relations.
Parliamentarians highlighted the great importance of organizing working visits and meetings in advancing inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
