In Ak Bugday district of Ahal velayat, at the 750th kilometer of Karakum River, the fish farm "Elin balyk" has been operating for over ten years. It manages a 130-hectare plot of land, granted for free use for 99 years. The facility includes 20 ponds with a total area of 400 square meters, “Turkmenistan: Golden age” reports.

The company is now venturing into a new direction – breeding the freshwater giant river prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) from Thailand. This shrimp grows up to 100 grams and reaches the size of an adult’s palm. Additionally, there are plans to experiment with another species – the Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), which thrives in saltwater. To implement this, farmers have studied shrimp farming techniques in Iran and Thailand and plan to expand their farm’s territory.

The company is committed to further growth and innovation. Farmers regularly undergo training in Russia, Japan, Iran, China, Turkey, and other countries, exchange experience with Turkmen colleagues, and organize seminars with international experts. The farm’s current product lineup includes carp, silver carp, grass carp, African catfish, tilapia, and sturgeon.
