An expert webinar was held in Turkmenistan to strengthen national capacity to monitor the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was organized with the support of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and in close cooperation with the State Statistics Committee.

The webinar was attended by experts from leading international organizations: the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), UN-Habitat, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The experts presented practical recommendations on a number of key topics, including the management of sustainable fish stocks, urban and public utility development, as well as the conservation of aquatic ecosystems and the analysis of data on endangered species.

The knowledge and tools gained will improve data collection and analysis in the country, which, in turn, will contribute to more effective tracking of Turkmenistan’s progress in achieving the global SDGs.
