The Turkmenistan Kurash wrestling team worthily represented the country at the 14th Asian Championship, which was held in South Korea from July 30 to August 4, 2025.

 

Following the results of the championship, athletes from Turkmenistan won 16 medals: 1 gold - in the weight category up to 78 kg, distinguished by Sabina Kadyrova, as well as 6 silver and 9 bronze medals.

 

The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea Begench Durdyev, who emphasized that the development of physical culture and sports is a priority direction of the state policy of Turkmenistan.

 

He also emphasized the symbolic significance of holding the championship in the year declared by the UN, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, as the International Year of Peace and Trust, and in honor of the 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality.

 

It should be noted that the international tournament brought together about 600 athletes from more than 25 Asian countries.
