The Youth Chamber Orchestra of Turkmenistan, led by conductor Rasul Klychev, has won the top gold award at the World Orchestra Festival in Vienna for the second year in a row, reaffirming the country’s growing stature on the international music stage.

The Turkmen ensemble received the highest prize in the “Chamber Orchestra” category and was additionally recognized for “Best Performance of Classical Music.” Conductor Rasul Klychev was also awarded a special individual prize as the festival’s “Best Conductor.”

In the competition program, the orchestra presented a complex and eclectic repertoire, showcasing a deep understanding of European classical traditions while also highlighting national identity through the inclusion of the dutar’s sound in the score. This cultural synthesis attracted particular attention from both the Viennese audience and the panel of experts.

The President of the festival’s creative committee, British conductor Professor Toby Purser, highly praised the orchestra’s performance, congratulated them on their well-deserved victory, and expressed interest in future collaboration, including the organization of joint concerts.
