A highway will be built from the Iranian border to the city of Gumdag in Turkmenistan. This was announced by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, TDH reports.

“Transport is among the main areas of cooperation. Turkmenistan and Iran occupy an advantageous geographical position at the junction of Asia and Europe, between the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf, which opens the way for both countries to have a very constructive partnership in the transport and logistics sector. In this regard, the importance of the highway, which will be built from the Iranian border to the city of Gumdag in Turkmenistan, was emphasized,” the report says.

It is noted that the parties signed a Memorandum to implement the project, and an Iranian company will act as the contractor. To implement the project, it was proposed to give the order to the relevant government agencies and companies.
