On August 29, Ashgabat hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Potential of Artificial Intelligence in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Education.” The event, organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan jointly with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), brought together about 100 leading experts from 25 countries.
The conference became a platform for discussing how AI can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in education. Participants — representatives of ministries, international organizations, scientists, and IT experts — exchanged experiences and best practices, and discussed cooperation within global initiatives such as the UN “Pact for the Future” and the “Global Digital Compact.”
The following important topics were covered during the sessions and discussions:
• Inclusion and Equality: How the Ethical Use of AI Can Make Education Accessible to All.
• Education Management: Using AI in Education Management Systems to Improve Efficiency.
• Future competencies: The importance of upgrading teachers and students in AI.
• Personalized learning: Examples of how AI helps create individual learning programs.
The conference resulted in important results that will form the basis for the further development of education in Turkmenistan. It was also decided to create an international platform for the continuous exchange of knowledge between specialists.
Participants noted that AI is a powerful tool for creating a fair and high-quality educational environment. They expressed confidence that the conference was an important step towards a future where innovation and cooperation will provide access to education for everyone.
At the end of the event, gratitude was expressed to the leadership of Turkmenistan for supporting initiatives in the field of science and education, which creates favorable conditions for the introduction of advanced technologies and strengthening international cooperation.
