Direct flights may soon appear between Astrakhan and the two largest cities of Turkmenistan – Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Astrakhan Region Vladimir Golovkov at a meeting with journalists on January 15, 2025, where issues of developing international air traffic in the region were discussed.

This means that flying to Turkmenistan will become much easier and faster. Tourists will be able to easily reach ancient cities, unique natural landscapes and the famous Turkmen desert Karakum. Businessmen will be able to conclude deals faster and expand their markets.

So far, these are just plans, but the authorities of both countries are actively working on their implementation. If everything goes according to plan, then in the near future we will be able to see the first flights between Astrakhan and Turkmenistan.
