During his visit to the United States, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with King Mswati III of Eswatini. After a warm greeting, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to meet on the sidelines of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly and exchange views on prospects and possible areas for developing interstate relations.
The King of Eswatini noted the high organizational level of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which took place in August of this year in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, and reiterated his gratitude for the hospitality. Mswati III emphasized that the high-level, representative Conference played an important role in coordinating actions and integration efforts at the national, regional, and global levels to ensure the sustainable development of LLDCs, praising Turkmenistan's active role in this area.
Expressing gratitude for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that our country, based on its legal status of neutrality, which has been recognized three times by the United Nations, maintains friendly relations with all countries of the world, attaching great importance to establishing cooperation with African states.
In this regard, the importance of the recent signing of the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Eswatini was emphasized, which creates the basis for developing ties between the two countries in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas.
The parties expressed confidence that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Eswatini will create a solid foundation for long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation that will contribute to the rapprochement of the two peoples and the strengthening of peace and stability.
