President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung on August 29.
Having exchanged warm greetings, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss priority areas of interstate dialogue.
Having congratulated him on his election as President of the Republic of Korea, the head of the Turkmen state wished Lee Jae Myung great success in his responsible state activities.
Having thanked him for the congratulations and good wishes, President Lee Jae Myung emphasized the great importance attached in the Republic of Korea to building up multifaceted cooperation with Turkmenistan. Noting the significant contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to strengthening bilateral relations, the head of the friendly state, taking the opportunity, conveyed warm words of greeting and best wishes to Hero Arkadag.
During the conversation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the trade and economic partnership between the two countries: over the years, positive experience has been accumulated in cooperation with leading Korean companies such as Hyundai, Daewoo and LG. Various projects were implemented with their participation, in particular, the project of a gas chemical complex in the Balkan velayat for the production of 386 thousand tons of polyethylene, 81 thousand tons of polypropylene worth more than 3 billion 400 million US dollars, as well as a project of a plant for cleaning commercial gas from sulfur as part of the development of the Galkynysh field with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters annually and worth over 1 billion 484 million US dollars.
We can also mention the project of a complex in the structure of the Turkmenabat Chemical Plant named after S.A. Niyazov for the production of 350 thousand tons of superphosphate and 100 thousand tons of ammonium sulfate per year worth 682 million US dollars.
In this regard, the head of the friendly state expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the favorable conditions provided to Korean companies for fruitful work in the Turkmen market.
The interlocutors emphasized the presence of enormous potential for activating targeted cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
As the head of state noted, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust". In this regard, an international forum will be held in Ashgabat on December 12. This significant date coincides with the 30th anniversary of our country's neutrality. Speaking about this, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited President Lee Jae Myung to the upcoming representative forum.
Having thanked for the invitation, the President of the Republic of Korea noted the broad support from the world community for Turkmenistan's peacekeeping foreign policy based on positive neutrality.
