During his working visit to the United States of America, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Karin Keller-Sutter. Warmly greeting each other, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to meet during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly and to exchange views on the development of cooperation between the two countries.

As noted, both Turkmenistan and Switzerland base their international activities on the principles of neutrality. This shared stance serves as a solid foundation for strengthening international cooperation, as well as promoting peace and stability.

The two presidents also exchanged views on the development of trade and investment partnerships. Finance, the pharmaceutical industry, and “green” energy were identified as promising areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that this year, which was declared the “International Year of Peace and Trust” by the UN General Assembly at Turkmenistan’s initiative, also marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. In this regard, an international forum will be held in Ashgabat on December 12, and the President extended an invitation to Karin Keller-Sutter to participate in this major event.

Expressing her gratitude for the invitation, the President of Switzerland emphasized the significance of Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality and its concrete initiatives aimed at expanding international dialogue and developing humanitarian cooperation.
