As part of his working visit to the United States of America, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly on September 22, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

The plenary session was preceded by performances from the youth choir Sing for Hope conducted by Michael Tillman, the Metropolitan Opera Choir, and pianist David Watkins, held in the UN General Assembly Hall.

Following the concert, the President of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, delivered a speech. A video dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the United Nations was then presented. Afterwards, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, addressed the audience.

Also speaking at the event were former President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former Prime Minister of Norway Gro Harlem Brundtland, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa, who shared their thoughts on the role of the UN in promoting peace, security, sustainable development, and human rights.

It is worth noting that Turkmenistan, as a neutral state, pursues a foreign policy aimed at strengthening peace, stability, and international cooperation. Turkmenistan is the first country in the world whose neutrality was recognized by the United Nations. This status is reflected in numerous international initiatives of our country, contributing to the maintenance of global security.
