President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Dushanbe, held a bilateral meeting with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on October 9.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest, the President of Tajikistan expressed gratitude for accepting the invitation and noted that the current visit by the head of Turkmenistan will further strengthen the traditional interstate dialogue.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation to participate in the second "Central Asia–Russia" Summit and the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, as well as the hospitality extended to him in Tajikistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag.

Noting the productive nature of political and diplomatic interaction, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the commonality or similarity of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan's positions on key issues of global and regional politics and thanked the Tajik side for its support of Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality and international initiatives.

Trade and economic cooperation was recognized as a priority area of ​​bilateral relations. In this regard, the parties noted the need to take the necessary measures to fully realize the two countries' potential in this area, increase mutual trade, and diversify economic ties.

The parties also noted that Turkmenistan and Tajikistan attach great importance to expanding the established close cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as cooperation in science and education.
