The next stage of the Grand Prix tournament series of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, which was held from August 22 to 28, has successfully ended in Turkmenabad. The competition brought together 166 chess players, including 100 participants in the open category and 66 in the women's category.
The tournament, which was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds, had an international rating and time control: 90 minutes per game with an increment of 30 seconds for each move. This made it a significant event in the national and world chess community.
The winners and prize-winners of the tournament were determined in a tense struggle. In the women's category, the first place was taken by Seyilkhanova Gulmira, the second - by Aimakova Myakhri, the third - by Yalkanova Jennet. In the open category, the winners were Kakabaev Mergen, Khalynyazov Vepaly and Rejepova Jahan, taking first, second and third places, respectively.
This stage of the Grand Prix was dedicated to the memory of the Honored Trainer of Turkmenistan Shakir Khakimov, who made a huge contribution to the development of chess in the Lebap velayat. His students continue the traditions of their mentor, strengthening the position of the regional chess school.
The Chess Federation of Turkmenistan noted that the active development of chess in the country contributes to the growth of the level of players, which is confirmed by their successes both in the domestic and international arenas.
There are still three stages of the Grand Prix series ahead, which will take place in Dashoguz, Turkmenbashi and Mary, where no less exciting competition is expected.
