Charge d'Affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Turkmenistan Hosaka Hideki visited the libraries of the Mary and Lebap regions. The diplomat donated books to the regional libraries as part of the READ JAPAN PROJECT. This was reported by the press service of the Japanese diplomatic mission in Ashgabat.
The libraries of the Mary and Lebap regions are multifunctional cultural centers. They have exhibition halls, observatories with telescopes, and ancient documents found in the respective regions. Such infrastructure provides local residents with ample opportunities for education and cultural development.
The Japanese Embassy in Turkmenistan expressed hope that the donated literature will help residents of Turkmenistan to better understand the Land of the Rising Sun.
The READ JAPAN PROJECT has been implemented by the Nippon Foundation and the Tokyo Foundation since 2008 to spread knowledge about Japan. As part of the project, books are donated to libraries and research institutions around the world.
