On August 29, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on a digital system, where the results of the work carried out in the country over the first eight months of this year were summed up.

The first to speak was the Chairman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova, who reported on the results of the national parliament's activities for January-August of this year.

She reported that 15 legislative acts were adopted during the period under review. Along with this, amendments and additions were made to existing legal acts related to criminal, arbitration, civil, criminal procedure, family and labor relations, tax, administrative and production issues, activities in the field of motor transport, migration, internal affairs agencies, and customs. During the specified period, 11 resolutions of the Mejlis were also adopted.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Khodjamyrat Geldimyradov reported on preliminary macroeconomic indicators for the first eight months of this year. As a result of the comprehensive measures taken for the specified period, GDP is 6.3 percent, including in industry the growth rate was 1.5 percent, in construction - 7 percent, in the transport and communications sector - 11 percent, in trade - 9.8 percent, in agriculture - 4.9 percent, in the service sector - 8.4 percent.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atakhalliyev reported on the results of the activities of the supervised complex for January-August of this year, as well as on the ongoing agricultural campaigns in the velayats. The Deputy Prime Minister asked the President to set a date for practical seminars with the participation of master farmers, experienced specialists, scientists and machine operators in order to organize, in accordance with agrotechnical standards at a high level in the velayats within the established time frame, the sowing of wheat for the 2026 harvest, and also to determine the date for the start of grain sowing with the participation of respected elders.

Deputy Prime Minister Bahar Seyidova reported on the Procedure for holding events for September of this year, in particular, on the conferences, roundtable meetings, exhibitions, creative meetings, and propaganda events planned on the occasion of the International Year of Peace and Trust. In addition, in honor of the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, a festive concert of cultural figures and masters of art of the country, a flower-laying ceremony at the Independence Monument will be held.

Then Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the results of the MFA activities for January-August of this year, as well as on the Priority Positions of Turkmenistan at the regular, 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He noted that the Priority Positions of Turkmenistan at the above-mentioned session for the upcoming political year have been developed. This document includes a number of key areas. At the same time, strengthening global peace and security is defined as one of the most important vectors.

At the same time, it is proposed to include for the first time in the agenda of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly the item "Neutrality - for the sake of peace and security" and within its framework to submit draft resolutions "The role and importance of the policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and the process of sustainable development" and "International Mediation Day".

In order to strengthen trust between the peoples of the planet, our country advocates holding the international forum "Central Asia - a space for building a peaceful life" under the auspices of UNESCO and the Alliance of Civilizations and, in particular, the Global Summit on a Culture of Peace, Trust and Mutual Respect.

In the context of cooperation with the UN in the legal sphere, based on the initiatives of the head of state, Turkmenistan puts forward important proposals on the role and significance of international law. One of them is to declare 2028 the Year of International Law. In this regard, in the coming years, our country will actively act as a member of the relevant Councils in the UN structure. Preparatory work will also continue on the election of Turkmenistan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2031-2032 and for other elective positions.

Addressing the members of the Cabinet of Ministers, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the results of the work carried out in the country for the first eight months of this year demonstrate the successful implementation of the adopted programs.

As the President emphasized, on September 1, the Day of Knowledge and Student Youth will be widely celebrated in the country, the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs will be commissioned in Ashgabat, and an additional educational building of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan will be opened in the city of Mary. In this regard, the head of state asked Hero Arkadag to take part in the opening ceremony of the new university in Ashgabat.

Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov cordially congratulated the participants of the meeting, education workers and happy youth on the Day of Knowledge and student youth and the beginning of the new academic year.
