The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has issued an official protest to Ukraine in connection with the dissemination of biased information about the country on the Ukrainian TV channel “FREEДОМ.” The ministry, via its official website, called on the relevant Ukrainian state authorities to take the necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The statement was prompted by a segment aired on July 8 on “FREEДОМ,” which alleged that Turkmenistan was "closed off" in terms of internet access. The Ministry emphasized that representatives of the channel have no real understanding of modern Turkmenistan, have never visited the country, and maintain no contact with Turkmen state institutions or journalists.
The press service of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan noted that this is not the first time that “FREEДОМ” has spread knowingly distorted and implausible information about Turkmenistan. These actions are taking place despite the long-standing economic and humanitarian support that Turkmenistan has provided to the Ukrainian people since the country gained its independence.
