Twenty-seven English language instructors from Turkmenistan’s universities and secondary schools are participating in the regional “C5+ ONE (Opening Networks through English)” program held in Almaty from July 7 to August 4, 2025. The program is being implemented as part of a U.S. initiative to foster professional connections through English, according to the press service of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Education.
The C5+ONE program is designed for representatives from educational institutions, government bodies, civil society, and the private sector across Central Asia.
The core idea behind the program is that enhancing English proficiency will improve participants’ career opportunities and help build “open networks” that strengthen regional cooperation and integration with the global community.
The program comprises three phases:
a 20-hour online course held from May 13 to June 9, 2025,
an intensive 146-hour in-person seminar in Almaty from July 8 to August 3,
and an 80-hour professional development segment from September 2025 to May 2026.
During the seminar, participants study modern English teaching methodologies, engage in hands-on sessions and workshops. Teachers exchange experience and knowledge on best practices in education using innovative technologies.
Upon completing the program, Turkmen educators plan to integrate the acquired knowledge into the national methodology for teaching English.
