The Asian Zone 3.4 championship, which is a qualifying tournament for the 2025 World Chess Cup, started in Almaty on April 2. Chess players from six countries are taking part in the competition: Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the host country Kazakhstan.
The tournament has 134 participants, including 88 men and 46 women. The Turkmen team is represented at the tournament by 11 players.
The prize fund of the tournament is $20,000, which will be divided equally between men and women. The winners will receive $3,000 each, second place - $2,500 each, third place - $1,500, fourth - $1,200, fifth - $1,000, and sixth - $800.
It is noteworthy that for the first time a representative from Turkmenistan - the chairman of the country's Chess Federation Vepa Myalikgulyyev - was included in the Appeals committee of the prestigious official tournament.
