On September 29, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Hojamurat Geldimyradov, took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which was held in Minsk.
The meeting agenda included 15 items. In a narrow-format session, the heads of government exchanged views on pressing issues of economic cooperation within the Commonwealth and discussed and approved the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the CIS for 2026–2035.
The participants also considered a draft Strategy for the Digitalization of Major Multimodal Transport Corridors of the CIS Member States.
In addition, during the session, the Strategy for Cooperation in the Development of the Information Society and Digital Economy until 2035 and the corresponding Action Plan for its Implementation were approved.
Furthermore, the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Second Stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030 was endorsed during the meeting.
A Plan of Events for the Preparation and Holding of the Year of Health Protection in the CIS in 2026 was also signed.
The Council members reviewed a wide range of issues related to financing the creation and development of a joint air defense system of the CIS states, execution of the unified budget of CIS bodies, and funding of initiatives under the Interstate Program to Improve the Quality of Life for War Veterans – Participants of Local Conflicts and Their Families in the CIS Member States. They also discussed ongoing efforts to locate military personnel who went missing during the war in Afghanistan, including the search for burial sites, exhumation, identification of remains, and their reburial in their homeland.
The next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government is expected to be held in the first half of 2026 in Turkmenistan.
