On July 18, 2025, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, met in Brussels with Heinrich Kerstens, Director for Strategic Projects at Rhenus Group. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of utilizing Turkmenistan as a key transport artery between Europe and Asia. Rhenus Group is one of Europe’s largest logistics companies.

The Rhenus representative noted that in times of global instability, Central Asia and Turkmenistan offer a reliable, transparent, and predictable route for cargo deliveries. Special emphasis was placed on the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi seaport and the country’s developed railway network.

In addition to transit transportation, the company expressed interest in supporting the export of Turkmen goods to international and European markets, viewing this as a long-term investment opportunity.

Ambassador Palvanov emphasized that Turkmenistan is actively investing in the development of modern transport infrastructure, including the construction of new highways, modernization of railways, and expansion of the seaport’s capacity.

The parties agreed to continue a substantive dialogue at expert and technical levels.

Rhenus Group is an international logistics company headquartered in Germany, operating in more than 70 countries worldwide.
