Six students from Turkmenistan performed successfully at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), held in the city of Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Turkmen participants won two silver and one bronze medal, along with three honorable mentions.
The silver medals were awarded to Malyksha Meilismuradov from Specialized Secondary School No. 86 in Ashgabat, which focuses on English, chemistry, and biology, and Hamza Allaberdyev from Specialized Secondary School No. 135 with an emphasis on English. Their classmate Maksat Babageldiyev received the bronze medal.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Kumush Nobatova from School No. 86 in Ashgabat, Myrat Ruslanov from School No. 97 specializing in languages, and Jelil Ataballyyev from School No. 130 specializing in foreign languages.
The international competition gathered 635 students from 114 countries. Participants, aged from grades 9 to 12, were tasked with solving seven complex mathematical problems within a set time.
The International Mathematical Olympiad has been held since 1959 in various countries around the world.
