Austrian Federal President invited to international forum in Ashgabat

Within the framework of his working visit to the United States, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen.

As noted, the sides exchanged cordial greetings, expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to meet during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, and expressed confidence that today's talks will contribute to a fruitful exchange of views and the development of cooperation between the two countries.

Trade and economic cooperation was mentioned at the meeting as one of the priority areas of bilateral relations. Austrian companies have been supplying the Turkmen market with advanced equipment for the transport, healthcare, chemical and oil and gas sectors for many years. The significance of the work of the Turkmen-Austrian joint group in fully realizing the economic potential of the two countries was noted.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the group's active role as a coordinator between state institutions and the private sector would be supported in the future.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation plays an important role in strengthening interstate relations, bringing peoples closer together, and mutually enriching cultures.

During the meeting, honored President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited President Alexander Van der Bellen to an international forum to be held in Ashgabat on December 12.

The President of the friendly country accepted the invitation with gratitude and noted that the policy of neutrality pursued by Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to global peace and enjoys broad support from the international community.
