During his working visit to the United States, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. Before the meeting, the head of state signed the UN Book of Distinguished Guests.

Warmly congratulating the head of the largest international organization on the successful start of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the head of state expressed confidence that it would make a significant contribution to strengthening global peace and security, as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of one of the world's most authoritative organizations, the United Nations, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended his heartfelt congratulations to António Guterres and all the staff of the UN specialized agencies on this significant occasion. Taking the opportunity, the head of state also conveyed warm greetings to the UN Secretary-General from the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Having returned greetings and best wishes to Hero Arkadag, António Guterres noted that he views this meeting as a continuation of Turkmenistan-UN cooperation on important issues, emphasizing our country's contribution to positively addressing regional and global challenges.

Expressing gratitude to Turkmenistan for the high level of organization of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, successfully held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, António Guterres emphasized that this Forum and the documents adopted during it mark a new stage in the UN's work to address the challenges of LLDCs.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that our country is committed to achieving the effective implementation of the Avaza Political Declaration and the Avaza Action Programme.

The head of state invited António Guterres to participate in the International Forum, which will be held in Ashgabat on December 12 this year.

Thanking for the invitation, the UN Secretary-General emphasized the important role of neutral Turkmenistan, with its rich history and unique cultural heritage, in promoting the ideals of peace in Central Asia and throughout the world.

Confirming that Turkmenistan, as a reliable and responsible partner of the United Nations, is committed to further strengthening and expanding fruitful dialogue, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his sincere gratitude to António Guterres for his contribution to the development of cooperation between our country and the UN.
