Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have significant potential for expanding energy cooperation. Azerbaijan is ready for a substantive dialogue on long-term mechanisms for cooperation in the supply of Turkmen oil and gas. This was stated by Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Nureddin Alekperov at the Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF 2025), according to a Takyk correspondent.
The speaker specified that this concerns readiness to jointly implement promising projects, develop transit routes, and supply the domestic market.
"Our company, SOCAR, is interested in participating in promising projects to develop fields in Turkmenistan. The electricity sector deserves special attention. Azerbaijan, as a major producer and exporter of electricity, offers a reliable transit corridor. We see good prospects for organizing electricity supplies from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, with the possibility of further transit to third countries," Alekperov stated.
According to the Deputy Minister, it is also important that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan plays a key role in optimizing the East-West Transport Corridor and increasing the efficiency of the Middle Corridor. Alekperov emphasized that transit traffic between the countries has demonstrated steady positive dynamics in recent years.
