Turkmenistan, endowed with vast hydrocarbon resources, is purposefully creating conditions to ensure that this natural wealth serves as a driver of sustainable development. The country’s goal is not only to export raw materials but also to build an efficient and environmentally clean energy system. This was stated by Chairman of the State Concern “Turkmengaz” Maksat Babaev at the final press conference of OGT 2025, reports Takyk.

In this context, Babaev noted that Turkmenistan is carrying out extensive work on the phased development of the Galkynysh gas field.

“Regarding Turkmengaz projects for field development, we are currently working on the second and third phases of the Galkynysh field.

Under the second phase, which aims to produce 30 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year, we are holding negotiations with CNPC.

For the third phase, with a projected output of 33 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year, negotiations are underway with ADNOC.

These are the main projects for developing the field,” said the head of the concern.

Babaev also confirmed that Turkmengaz is open to projects in the gas chemical sector. Experts of the concern will continue to advance this area, focusing primarily on import-substitution initiatives and the expansion of high-quality product manufacturing to meet export demand, the chairman concluded.

The 30th International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025” (OGT-2025) successfully concluded in Ashgabat. The event was dedicated to strategic directions for the development of the fuel and energy complex, emphasizing cooperation with leading global oil and gas companies and the implementation of innovations for a sustainable energy transition.
