The national chess team of Turkmenistan won second place in the team standings at the Central Asian Youth Championship, which concluded on July 29 in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. Turkmen athletes earned six medals, showcasing a high level of preparation in regional competitions.
A total of 15 chess players represented the national team, competing against 425 participants from five Central Asian republics across 12 age categories. Turkmenistan’s team claimed two gold, three silver, and one bronze medal.
Gold medals were won by Charyyev Charykekim from the “Küşt Alemi” Academy (Ashgabat) in the boys under 8 category with 8 points out of 9, and Charyyeva Anna from Mary velayat in the girls under 8 category with 7.5 points.
Silver medals went to Awlyyakuliyev Maksat from Lebap velayat (boys under 10, 7.5 points), Batyrov Alykhan from Mary velayat (boys under 12, 7 points), and Rejepova Jahan from Lebap velayat (girls under 16, 7.5 points). The bronze medal was awarded to Muradova Nebahat from Lebap velayat in the girls under 14 category with 6 points.
Uzbekistan’s team took first place with 16 medals. The host country, Kyrgyzstan, came in third, trailing Turkmenistan in the number of silver medals despite an equal number of gold medals.
