As part of the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan, a ceremonial groundbreaking was held for the construction of a mosque in the city of Fuzuli. This mosque will be built as a gift from the people of Turkmenistan to the Azerbaijani people.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Hero-Arkadag emphasized that in Turkmen culture, the construction of roads, bridges, and mosques is considered a sacred act.
The solemn event was attended by all heads of delegations who had arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the 12th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). Following the speeches by the muftis of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, the Hero-Arkadag and the heads of the OTS member states jointly gave the ceremonial start to the mosque’s construction.
By order of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the construction of the mosque will be carried out by the private company "Aga-gurluşyk", with funding provided by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.
The site designated for the construction of this majestic house of worship covers more than one hectare. The mosque will accommodate up to 500 worshippers at the same time.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hero-Arkadag, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the entire Turkmen people for this generous and symbolic gift of a mosque from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan.
