A roundtable discussion on the implementation of the outcomes of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on August 26.
The event was attended by the Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to Pakistan.
The participants praised the outcomes of the UN-organized conference, which aimed to develop coordinated approaches to addressing pressing issues faced by landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).
The discussion focused on the importance of strengthening regional transport and energy connectivity, expanding transit capacity and implementing large-scale infrastructure initiatives. The participants emphasized the critical role of regional integration, digitalization of the economy and innovation in ensuring sustainable development of landlocked developing countries.
During the roundtable, it was also noted that effective implementation of the LLDC3 conference decisions will require active interaction with transit countries and international financial institutions. In conclusion, the ambassadors reaffirmed their commitment to further close cooperation, including organizing joint initiatives aimed at translating the LLDC3 conference decisions into concrete actions in the region.
